What MetaLens does
MetaLens is a free image metadata inspector. Upload any common image format and it reveals the file's basic properties — format, dimensions, size, aspect ratio — alongside the embedded metadata that cameras and phones write invisibly into your photos: EXIF camera settings, GPS coordinates, XMP editing data and IPTC descriptive fields. When a photo contains a location, we plot it on a map so you can see at a glance exactly what the image discloses.

Our approach to privacy
A tool that reads sensitive metadata should not become a privacy risk itself. That is why MetaLens processes your image in memory and never writes it to disk or stores it. Once the results are returned, the file is gone. There are no accounts to create and nothing to sign up for. You can read more in our privacy policy.
How it works under the hood
When you upload a file, MetaLens identifies the real format from its contents — not its extension — so a renamed file is still recognized correctly. It then reads the header for dimensions and parses any embedded EXIF, GPS, XMP and IPTC blocks, presenting them in a clean layout with the full raw data available for anyone who wants the detail. The principle behind it
You cannot make good decisions about information you cannot see. Photo metadata is powerful and useful, but it is invisible by default, which means most people share it without ever knowing. MetaLens turns that invisible data into a deliberate choice. That is the whole idea.
